Pip

Pip came to the rescue at just 8 weeks old, surrendered by his breeder due to a problem with his front leg. It twists inward and he cannot put his weight on it. The breeder had taken him to a vet and had it looked at, but the vet told her that it would be costly to have it fixed, and recommended that she surrender the puppy to us. I picked him up on a Friday night, and he was SO tiny and so adorable....my heart just melted. I knew we had to do everything we could to help him. The first vet we took him to thought we should remove his leg, but I decided to take him to an orthopedic surgeon and see if there was anything that could be done. They can do a surgery that will fuse the bones, they cannot do anything to repair his elbow joint, it is crushed beyond help. So he will have stiff leg, but at least he will still have the leg! The saddest thing of all is that this was all preventable - the orthopedic surgeon has told us that these injuries are a result of the leg being pulled on as he was coming out of the womb. HE is not aware that he has a bad leg! He just has a wonderful personality and absolutely everyone who has met him has fallen love in with him.
