Unfortunately the current pup I have needing medical care is not a Pug, but a Rat Terrier named Kiwi. She was a stray in Milwaukee and soon found her way to the Washington County Humane Society. She had a really bad cough, that the Humane Society didn’t think she would overcome at the shelter. I took her in about 3 weeks ago, and am still trying to find and cure the source of her horrible cough. She has been on antibiotics for 5 weeks with no improvement. Since the antibiotics aren’t working Kiwi may have to undergo a procedure where she will have a tube inserted into her throat and tested to make sure she does not have a problem with her trachea, and also to try and determine if she does have some sort of bacterial infection and how we can cure it. She has been diagnosed with a collapsing trachea.
Kiwi is an absolute sweetheart. She loves giving kisses, and cuddling on the couch getting her belly rubbed. Although she is about 8 years old, she has the energy of a pup. She loves running around the back yard playing fetch and wrestling with her foster Min Pin brothers. She does all of this while suffering from a horrible cough.
