The dog we are going to nominate is Sassy, and her puppies. Sassy was turned over to a shelter only days before her due date, and we scrambled to get her out of there before those puppies were born. We didn't want them born in a shelter, teeming with diseases. Sassy was turned in along with two female chugs, and a male puggle, by a back yard breeder, who stated in her surrender form that she could not sell the puppies and no longer wanted to breed. She also had a male pug, but she gave him away to someone. We got Sassy to our foster home (Annie) just in time - she delivered the puppies exactly one week from when she was brought in. SEVEN puppies! As you know, we will need to spay/neuter each and every one of them, along with Sassy, as well as get everyone vaccinated, including Sassy. Times eight, this is going to be a huge expense....especially considering our adoption fee will only be $350. We will probably spend at least twice that on each puppy before we can finalize adoptions.
