Puggy
MOP’s
Puggy is a 6 year old fawn pug that is full of energy! Puggy had some issues with his back legs. After a few X-rays we found that his 5 Sacral Vertebrae did not fuse correctly to form his Sacrum in his spine/pelvis. This was a birth defect. So we were ready to set him up with a cart to help him once he starts to get worse. We started him on Cosequin (Glucosamine supplement); Omega-3; Rimadyl (help with pain, although he never shows any) and a weekly shot of Adequan (help with inflammation). Then we received his blood work back. This showed an increase in his white blood cell count ~ showing chronic inflammation or infection. His blood sugar is low and his total protein is increased both of which can be caused by the infection/ inflammation. We have him now on antibiotics and will re-check in two weeks. This boy is amazing and really loves life. He eats well, loves to play with his foster siblings and has no issues in the potty department. Once we get his blood re-checked and the numbers are where they need to be and all signs of infection are gone we will neuter Puggy. We are looking at numerous companies that make carts for animals to try and get him the best one for his needs. For now we will be putting Soft Claws on his back nails to stop his nails from bleeding because they are worn down to the quicks. He's worn numerous pairs of boots out already from running and dragging them along the pavement. But he is one happy boy! |
